ACFI Election Instructions and Ballot

The ACFI is holding its election at this time and we need your help.

We need to get the instructions and ballot to as many people as we can in a short time. Please download the instructions and ballot, print them, and vote. Also, please make as many copies as you want for distribution at clubs or chess events within Arizona.

The conditions and requirements for voting are included in the instructions. As the validity of a ballot that is received depends on the addressing of the ballot rather than the ballot itself there is no problem with downloading more than one ballot, but pay particular attention to the certification procedures that are in the instructions.

Volunteers sought for the position of USCF Delegate

Would you like to be on USCF's Board of Directors?

Once upon a time each state's USCF State Chapter named those who would represent their state on the USCF Board of Directors (Board of Delegates). Then the procedure changed and all Delegates were elected directly by USCF members in each state. This year the system has changed again and ACFI will be submitting a list to USCF of those who will represent Arizona at the 2011 and 2012 annual meetings.

The Delegates meet at the annual meetings in conjunction with the US Open each year. There is no compensation. It is purely a volunteer position, but if you are going to the US Open and/or attending the workshops that take place at the same time you might want to consider becoming a Delegate.

Region II Representative (2 positions) - Robby Adamson, Amanda Mateer

2008 ACFI Financial Report as of 04/06/08

Treasurer Jennifer Shacter submitted the attached Financial report with ACFI's Annual Report for the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC).

She noted that the ACC only accepts credit cards with online submissions of Annual Reports. She put the ten dollar ACC filing fee on her own credit card and wrote a reimbursement check.

The ACC will require online submission after this year, so this is the first time but not the last.

2007 ACFI Annual Financial Statement and comments

The following message and attachement were provided by ACFI Treasurer Jennifer Shacter.

Her suggestions regarding the procedure for the Denker and Polgar representatives are subject to Board approval.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have attached the 2007 ACFI End-of Year Financial Statement. The statement remains unchanged from when it was submitted to the board at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Both Robby Adamson (her coach & chief TD for 2007 State) and I have contacted Jenelle Wallace, the 2007 AZ Polgar Representative, regarding reimbursement of up to $300 in expenses but haven’t received a request back. I don’t know how much time we should allow for a representative to seek reimbursement. Should this come up for discussion?

ACFI Financial Report

The ACFI Financial Report, submitted by Treasurer Jennifer Shacter, has been approved by the Board with a vote of 11 - 0 (Treasurer did not vote).

It is attached to this article for those who are interested.

Minutes of the September, 2006, ACFI Annual Board Meeting

MINUTES of the 2006 ACFI ANNUAL MEETING

The meeting was called to order at 10:03 AM. Present were Steven Kamp, Albert Lemke, Myron Lieberman (assisted by Rachel Lieberman), Spencer Lower, Jennifer Shacter, and Will Wharton. Robert Tanner arrived shortly thereafter. Robby Adamson and Kiki Huerta were contacted by phone briefly during the meeting. Mark Ginsburg was in an adjoining room playing in a FIDE tournament. He did not get a chance to attend. Also present were Dean Cullen and Luke Karrys.

The Treasurer's Report was previously e-mailed by Treasurer Jennifer Shacter. Jennifer reviewed the fact that the checkbook balance is currently $5,013.50. The bank shows the balance as $5,024.50 due to a bank over credit. There was also an anonymous $750 donation for the promotion of Arizona chess. Special thanks to the donor. It will be verified that the donor knows that ACFI is currently not a 501c3 organization before accepting the donation.
