ACFI is soliciting Nominations for USCF Delegates from AZ for 2009-2010

It is time for ACFI to nominate candidates for USCF Delegate from Arizona for the years 2009 and 2010. The USCF Delegate term is for two years and involves attending the USCF Delegates' Meetings which are held in conjunction with the US Open in August. There is no compensation or expense reimbursement either from USCF or from ACFI for the Delegates. Arizona is entitled to 3 State Delegates and 3 Alternate Delegates in addition to Rachel and I (We are both Delegates at Large and do not affect the state allocation). Any current USCF member who resides in AZ (ACFI Member)is eligible, not only ACFI Board members. Please let everyone that might be interested know. If you would like to be nominated by ACFI please confirm your willingness to serve by sending an e-mail to that effect to azchess@cox.net. Include your correct USCF ID number. In order to be nominated the nominee and not a third party must confirm willingness to serve. There is no limit to the number of people that ACFI can nominate. All will appear on the ballot with an indication that they are ACFI nominees. The ACFI list will be an ordered list and nominees will be listed on the ballot in the order provided on the list. They will be elected in the order of votes received (three highest are the Delegates, fourth highest is 1st Alternate, fifth highest is 2nd Alternate, sixth highest is third Alternate). Those who are not nominated by ACFI can still get on the ballot by submitting petitions that contain the signatures of 10 valid USCF members in AZ to USCF. I need to get ACFI's list to the USCF by February 1, so this does require immediate action. Those who submit petitions have until April 1. Ballots will be distributed by USCF in June and counted in July. If you know anyone who might be interested please encourage them to confirm their willingness to serve. Please try to have your name and ID number and a statement that you are willing to serve no later than January 22. I will attempt to submit a proposed list for Board approval by January 24 so that we can submit it to USCF by the February 1 deadline. It is very likely that there will be a USCF Board meeting on February 2-3, so time is tight. Please contact Myron Lieberman at azchess@cox.net with any questions.
